What a sourcing diagnostic does

You send us your U.S. vendor list, SKUs, volumes and HS codes. We come back in three weeks with alternatives you can actually order from.

Exposure map

Every SKU classified against the Sept 8 list and the U.S. Section 232/338 measures, with CUSMA-origin questions flagged where the answer isn't obvious.

Alternative suppliers

Qualified manufacturers in CETA, CPTPP, Korea and Mexico markets, plus Canadian options where they exist. Named companies, not a database dump.

Landed-cost model

Duty under the applicable trade agreement, freight, FX, certification and MOQ, side by side with your current post-tariff U.S. cost.

Switching plan

What requalification, tooling, lead-time and cash-flow changes a switch actually requires, ranked by savings per unit of effort.

Fixed fee. No success-fee games.

We charge a fixed diagnostic fee scaled to the spend under review. We do not take a percentage of “documented savings”, because nobody can agree on what those are twelve months later, and we do not take commissions from any supplier we recommend during a diagnostic. If we later represent a manufacturer in Canada, we'll tell you in writing before it comes up in your work.

Phase one runs through November 2026 and is limited to a small number of engagements so that each one gets real supplier outreach, not a report.

Questions people ask

Does the counter-tariff apply if my product ships from the U.S. but was made elsewhere?

The surtax applies to goods that originate in the U.S. under the CUSMA marking regulations. A German-made machine that merely passes through a U.S. distributor may not be U.S.-origin, but the paperwork has to prove it. This is one of the first things a diagnostic settles per SKU.

Is this list final?

No. Finance Canada updated it on August 26, 2026 and can amend it; remission requests are still being accepted. We track the official list and rebuild this site's data when it changes.

Can I just apply for remission instead of switching suppliers?

Sometimes, and a customs broker or trade lawyer is the right partner for that. Remission is discretionary, slow and product-specific. A diagnostic tells you whether it's worth pursuing alongside a supplier change.

Are you a customs broker?

No. We do sourcing and supplier qualification. We work alongside your broker and will not give you a formal duty ruling.
