Privacy policy
Effective September 4, 2026. Applies to tariffsolutions.ca.
We collect very little, we only use it to answer you, and we don't sell or share it for marketing. This page explains what is collected, why, where it goes, and how to get it corrected or deleted.
Who we are
Tariff Solutions is operated by Browes AI, a Canadian technology services business (“we”, “us”). We are the organization accountable for personal information collected through this site. Our privacy officer is Ollie Browes, reachable at hello@tariffsolutions.ca.
What we collect, and why
Information you send through our forms. When you request a sourcing diagnostic or tell us about products you manufacture, we collect what you type: name, work email, company, province or country, sector, approximate annual spend or capacity, current suppliers or certifications, and anything you put in the free-text field. We use it for one purpose: to reply to you and, if you choose to work with us, to scope and deliver the service. Providing it is voluntary; without an email address we cannot reply.
Your product-checker searches, only if you then submit a form. The product checker runs entirely in your browser. Your search terms are not sent to us or stored when you search. If you submit a form during the same visit, the form includes your most recent search and the tariff lines it matched, so that our reply can be specific. If you would rather it didn't, clear the search box before submitting.
Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard web-server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and to keep the site running. We don't use these to identify individuals.
What we don't collect. We set no advertising cookies and use no advertising trackers.
Analytics. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand overall site traffic. Plausible sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does not track visitors across sites or devices. It reports only aggregate statistics (such as page views and referral sources) that cannot be used to identify you. Because no personal data is collected and no cookies are set, no cookie consent banner is required.
Consent
By submitting a form you consent to us using the information in it to respond to your inquiry and provide the services you asked about. We do not add you to a mailing list and do not send commercial electronic messages without your express consent, in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; we will stop using your information except where we are required to keep it (for example, records of a completed engagement).
Where your information goes
Form submissions are received and stored by our form-processing provider, Netlify, Inc., and delivered to us by email. Netlify's servers are located in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed outside Canada and be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including lawful access by its authorities. We don't sell personal information, and we share it only with service providers who need it to run this site and who are bound to protect it, or where the law requires disclosure.
If we recommend a supplier to you as part of a diagnostic, we do not share your identity or purchasing data with that supplier without your agreement.
How long we keep it
Inquiries we don't take further are deleted within 12 months. Information about clients and suppliers we work with is kept for the duration of the relationship and for seven years afterward to meet tax and record-keeping obligations, then deleted. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for its standard retention period, typically 30 days.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Form data is stored in our provider's access-controlled systems and in our email, which is protected by two-factor authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if we become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent, by emailing hello@tariffsolutions.ca. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the privacy regulator in your province.
Quebec residents. In addition to the above, you have the right to receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format, and to be informed of the use of any automated decision-making that affects you. We make no automated decisions about you. The person in charge of the protection of personal information is named under “Who we are” above.
Children
This site is for businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we will delete it if we learn we have.
Changes
When we change this policy we update the effective date at the top. Material changes to how we use your information will be flagged on this page for 30 days.
